Clinical Hypnosis to Improve Sleep
The following program offered by the Minnesota Society of Clinical Hypnosis has been submitted for 6 CEUs towards ASCH membership and/or certification
Description
The workshop will begin with a comprehensive didactic component, offering participants a foundational understanding of the theoretical basis of clinical hypnosis and its application in improving sleep. It will review the Adaptive Experiential Theory of hypnosis and how it relates to sleep. This segment will also cover evidence-based research on the efficacy of clinical hypnosis in sleep management. Findings from a recent systematic review on hypnosis for sleep will be highlighted, with a discussion on potential mechanisms contributing to its effectiveness.
After the didactic portion, participants will take part in hands-on practice sessions, which will introduce various sleep-specific hypnotic suggestions and explore different approaches. Participants will learn to design and deliver hypnotic suggestions tailored to address specific sleep-related issues, including insomnia, nightmares, and pre-sleep arousal. Emphasis throughout the workshop will be on customizing hypnotherapeutic interventions to meet individual client needs, ensuring a personalized approach. The session will conclude with a debriefing and open forum for questions, allowing participants to consolidate their knowledge and clarify any aspects of the practice.
